Taiwanese 2ch--PTT

In last week's class, Prof Sugai mentioned about anonymous sites in Japan-2ちゃねる. Actually, in Taiwan, we also have a bulletin board site called PTT. It is telnet site, which is the prototype of www. While many people are surprised that Taiwanese people still use this "ancient" technology, it is popular in Taiwan.

The interface looks like this.
PTT is a very interesting subculture in the Taiwanese young generation. Like 2ch, people in PTT "hide" behind an ID, share information and talk about latest news, sometimes rumors. Since there are more than 1.5 million members in PTT, special culture formed there. You can hear people talking about the hot news from PPT in real daily life. Moreover,  special terms like OP(over post), GJ(Good Job), Orz(embarrassed) are created and become popular phrase in daily conversation.

However, issues like privacy, human flesh search and violence from the majority arise in PTT. Journalist even find their news topic on it, which is often criticized by the public. Recently, a movie based on real event happened in PTT came out called "Silent Code" (in Chinese "BBS鄉民的正義"). Please watch the trailer below. (with English subtitle)
