NFC ( Near field communication)

In the last class, we talked about the voice usage time/ARPU versus data usage time/ARPU.
Regarding ARPU, one of classmate proved that voice ARPU is decreasing,so I would like to talk about new technology NFC.

Actually, NFC is not completely new technology as NXP, ex Philips semiconductors, has relesed RFID chips and Felica has released their own RFID chips. However, those 2 competitors are collaborating with each other in order to create common RF interface.
This new common interface is being called as NFC.

In NFC, there are 3 assumed modes: emulation, reader/writer and peer to peer modes.
Nowadays, the emulation mode is noticed by Goole wallet, but NFC advantage is not only emulation mode, but reader/writer and peer to peer modes are also important.

As several examples, please let me attach few videos which describ the function of the reader/writer mode.

With these kinds of applications, carrier makers will increase data traffic like making people download manual and movies.

Nowadays, Japanese carrier makers acceralate 4G coverage region and NFC services.
For me, this trend seems to be a smart strategy of carrier makers who would like to obtain more DATA ARPU.
