Mobile Data vs Voice in Indonesia

At E-Marketing class last week, we discussed about the change the way people using their mobile phone. It has shifted from its initial purpose as a mean for communication (voice service only) into a more sophisticated ones such as browsing, chatting, sending/receiving email or do the online game by utilizing mobile internet facilities in their cell phones or gadgets.

We wondered of how big mobile data usage compared to voice service in every country.  Many of us believed that nowadays mobile data usage is much higher than voice service. In fact, this case is not applicable in Indonesia. As I browsed through the internet I found that voice service revenue is still higher than revenue gathered from the use of mobile data. In 2011, It contributes 60% revenue for mobile providers in Indonesia. However, I believe that the use of mobile data is still at growing stage now as many providers announced their focus in increasing data services for their customer starting from the year of 2012.
