Privacy issue and the Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2013

The world's leading IT research and advisory company Gartner identified the Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2013 (http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=2209615). Gartner defines a strategic technology as one with the potential for significant impact on the enterprise in the next three years.

Among the top 10 trends the following ones potentially have significant impact on hot privacy issue:
  • Gartner predicts that by 2013 mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide and that by 2015 over 80 percent of the handsets sold in mature markets will be smartphones.
  • The personal cloud will gradually replace the PC as the location where individuals keep their personal content, access their services and personal preferences and center their digital lives.
As we observed today in the class the new generation of Internet users is emerging - users that do not care about Internet privacy. So I will not be suprised if after 5-10 years 100% of users will access Internet by mobile phones and keep personal content on personal cloud. What do you think?
