Week 2: Taobao Analysis & Marketing Plan

Why did ZCJB failed when it should have succeeded:
- Possible lack of communication and education to the sellers when it was implemented
- Possible lack of market research to determine if it was the right time to implement it
- Possible lack of incremental implementations (for example, to allow sellers to try out the system free of charge for a week, before executing in full fledge.

For the marketing plan, it is still too early for me to give my point of view, as we have only been taught with the basic skeleton of it. As we go along working on the final project, I'm sure there will be more ideas and opinions coming along for me to discuss with everyone.

Special thanks to Mr. Mori for giving us a great insight about his company and the market outlook in Japan's online industry. It does look lucrative with up to USD$55 billion/year revenues up for grabs! I feel that Japan has implemented what many consider as the world's most advanced and exciting online ecosystems and we would be able to gain more insights into the industry with this project!

Lastly, I found this link:
PayPal and SOFTBANK to Establish a Joint Venture to Revolutionize Digital Payments and Drive Future of Commerce in Japan

I guessed Mr. Mori has mentioned clearly what are the challenges that they have, is the lack of Japanese technical staff. Softbank has been a recognized brand in Japan since the early days, which is possibly the main reason why Paypal chose them instead.

Any of your friends looking for a job? They may want to consider Digital River too! ;)
