According to Josh Bernoff, vice president at Forrester Research, there are four main reasons why marketing will be more digital, more interactive and more social.First, consumers are spending more their time with digital and consider shopping online relatively cost effective and convenient. They like social media projects, search engine, online video and mobile marketing because it satisfies f their interactive need and social communication. Second, marketer can extend and enhance their existing programs and invites customer to help. Marketers can create their own website with product descriptions, specs, pricing for thousands of items and allow other sites to connect. As a result, they can enjoy the domino effects from the information transmission. Third, digital technology brings advantages for the whole marketing funnel with increase branding, awareness efforts at the big end of the funnel through blogs, banner ads, search ads. Fourth is the long-term effect of digital marketing. Marketing assets like websites, online communities increase over time. You can build them now and tap into them later. And that’s a wiser way to spend money than just running campaigns with the hope of an immediate impact.
