I considered my father as a fossil because he does not have a mobile phone. But now I should consider myself as a fossil too because I do not know much about Android. After reading these articles, I looked over a bit about Android. SO, Android is exactly the platform of Google, by Google, for Google!
I am very interested in whether Android terminal can beat I-phone or not. I think to win the competition, at least, DoCoMo should more advertise for Android terminal to their customer like me.

It had been 7 years since I worked in Taiwan and China, and came back to Japan in this January. I was really surprised at big change of mobile phone. Although it has become very useful on such as Felica and online reservations, the environment is going just in closed area, Japan alone, so Japanese mobile market has been growing rapidly.
However, price of handsets became high due to changing regulation, so more customers will not renew handsets often and then it becomes difficult for manufacturers to maintain their business. And they have been forced to get into the market out of Japan. Under this situation, Android platform would give good opportunities to expand.
Anyhow, tough situations might still continue because more manufacturers employ the same platform OS on handset and it should be difficult to reveal its characteristics but there are sophisticated infrastructure and accumulated high technology, so I believe Japanese manufacturers will yield to major companies such as Nokia and iPhone.
