Harnessing Social media marketing to win in the market

As competition becomes increasingly fierce in a commoditized market, margin shrinks and market share loses. One way to gain comptitive advantage is to deliver value to customers by fully integration with them, instead of conveying information single-directionally. Especially with the development of internet, online community becomes a major arena for companies to communicate with customers mutually, which propels some companies to leverage social media marketin to deliver value to customers
Social media marketing is the term that describes the act of using social networks, online communities, blogs, wikis or any other collaborative Internet form of media for marketing, sales, public relations and customer service. Common social media marketing tools include Twitter, blogs, LinkedIn, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. In the context of Internet marketing, social media refers to a collective group of web properties whose content is primarily published by users, not direct employees of the property.
A recent study by Deloitte, Beeline Labs and the Society for New Communications Research has found that despite the recession, 94% of enterprises continue to invest in online communities & social media. Companies appreciate social networking communities for internal and external communications. But the study also found that the enterprise’s use of communities and social media is not fully harnessed, which leaves great scope for companies to leverage to win out the competition.
The detailed information about the study can be referred to the following web linkage: http://sncr.org/2009/10/07/despite-the-recession-94-percent-of-enterprises-continue-to-invest-in-online-communities-social-media/

Refering to this topic, I would like to introduce the article about the Benefits of a social media marketing strategy. According to Bernie Borges, everything we want to reach from a social media marketing strategy, primarily and basically, is to build mutual-interest relationships between you and your customers.
However, we also have to face the problems of ownership and control information. You can create contents, but you can not control them. You can not know how other people use them. In many cases, the orginal meaning of your contents is distorted terriblely. In addition, you also face bad comments from your competitors.

In my opinion, social media marketing strategy game is 70% full and 30% empty glass.
