I've found many articles relating to Radiohead's upcoming album. Basically, they are offering their upcoming album as a download for whatever price you want to pay. Thats right, you can pay as much, or as little, as you like. Besides the download, consumers can pay for a physical box set (about $80 US), featuring several exclusives not available via download.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out. What does offering your music online for whatever price the consumer wants mean for the future of music sales (and downloads). And how will this affect the traditional marketing approaches used by the major labels?
