Customer Personalisation, A new paradigm in Uganda's pay TV industry..

There is a new twist in the pay TV industry in Uganda. Till recently, it has been a lucrative business only run by the South African Based firm - DSTV ( Multichoice.) With the communication commission opening up this market, DSTV is poised to face competition from new and vibrant pay TV providers. It is working to stem the threat by partnering up with the mobile operators with 3G technology. They will be relaying pay TV to customers mobile phones.

DSTV hopes that this will help to increase customer acqusition and significantly reduce attrition . The strategy is to personalise pay TV services through delivery of more value to the customer. I must hasten to add too, that this is still hype. Multichoice and the phone operators will face the problem of short battery life as the case has been in Japan.
