Social Media and Interactive Marketing

Responding to our upcoming class topic, “Strategies for Customer Acquisition”, I found these articles from Forrester that discuss how social integrating media, such as blog, YouTube, e-discussion forum, etc., can be utilized and integrated into corporate marketing. Through social media, millions of internet users started to give each other advice on what to purchase and what not. One bad customer review of a product on a blog can tremendously reduce its company’s revenue. Consumers listen and trust more to what other consumers say than to what commercial says. Peer-to-Peer or “words of mouth” social networking sites are, thus, very powerful marketing tools. In order to regain the trust, firms need to get in touch with their customers by opening online discussions and start sharing on all elements of business.
