There is a major trend towards personalization, and customized organization of information on the internet these days. Yahoo! Pipes is one expansive example of such a service. What it ingeniously does, it correlate different web information sources, and gives you an output of those miscellaneous sources. One such an application is to find apartments which are near parks, a service that no pure "map" or pure "real estate" search function can help you with.
Consumers are increasingly taking control of the internet, and sifting through information in more personalized ways (think of iGoogle, RSS feeds, etc.). It will be interesting to watch this trend grow towards a more mainstream application.
