With mass media

In terms of marketing in Japan, nowadays, we can see a style. There are various kinds of trend, such as clothes, foods, lifestyles or music. Seemingly, it looks triumphs of nice products which fulfill consumer disire. However, there sometimes a analogy.
The analogy is "collaborate with mass media". Mass media, such as magazines and TV creates appealing slogans, or change existing words into new ones which sound sophisticated. In this way, many people are fascinated and buy the products. This method also is effective for magazines or TV because they can make them better known as "fashion maker".

One easy-to-understand example is that changing "dessert" to "sweets".
For a long time, "dessert" had been a common word, but now, many people use the word "sweets" because it sounds cute and more sophisticated for them.

So far, fashion-conscious people, mainly the young generation are impressed by magazine or TV because they are not so familliar with PC and the Internet. But near future, the Internet will be a more impressive tool as it become easier.

I think the Internet has already been the way of life and integrated into our everyday life. Thus surely it is easy.

Interesting observation. If this trend of collaboration continues the next logical step is to enter medias like Internet and mobile marketing, which has tremendous potential and Iam sure it is already happening in Japan. So Tom are there any examples ??
