They read the text (maybe e-book?), watch the movie, listen the music, and connect the social media services. I feel that train in Tokyo is net-cafe.

Now Tokyo train look like the Net-cafe!

I would like to add one comment about this picture. According to my observation, use of mobile phones during traveling or riding a train also depends on the timings. For example, in the day time when every one running for offices/schools/work places, they use mobile. But while coming back majority of people are found sleeping.
To foreign students
Do you know that we must turn off our mobile phone around priority seats in the train?
Mobile phones are not good for people who have a pacemaker for their hearts.
