Android, a hope for Internet-based applications on mobile phone

Yesterday, in the lab meeting, we were updated with a strange name: Android. It is a new mobile device software platform for mobile phone business which was unveiled by Google last week. So what is so special about Android? Android is an entirely open source which can help to foster the development of Internet-powered mobile applications. Forrester have just released a research, explaining about this platform and how it can change the mobile landscape.

Adopting Android means that handset makers can reduce their software cost, developers could have Internet applications applicable across a wide variety of device and networks, and operators could expand the networks' value. Android also promised a profitable platform for advertisement and B2B transactions.

Loic, the youtube video about Android was nice. Please also read this article for some further information about this platform.
