the Future Contained in a Really Small Package

Nanotechnology pertains to ultra-super-micro (i mean REALLY small) objects which can carry out a variety of functions. In the field of emarketing, nanotech can be used for identification, tracking (for LBS), and even determining context (ex. body temp monitoring). The thing with nanotech is it can be worn (embedded in clothes, jewelry, just about anything) or even embedded in the human body (i'm sure they will find a way, or argue that it is safe). nano sized RFID chips will play an important role in this one to transmit the information. for ID, nano-sized devices can be worn for full body scans (a body profile is kept and matched). in a much sci-fi way, we all know that DNA is really truly unique. if safe enough nano devices which can be embedded in the body are invented, then these devices can take a profile of a person's DNA at the point of identification, submit it to a reader which in turn matches it with the person's DNA profile. In the future, it may also be possible to create personalized and unique nanotech devices. if that's the case, i wonder if the term "nano-ID theft"will come to being.
