"Am I" and the future of eMarketing

AmI stands for ambient intelligence - a future trend wherein electronic environments are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people. AmI is a vision of the future that was made in the late 1990s for the period 2010–2020 (which means it has started). In an ambient intelligent world, devices work in concert to support people in carrying out their everyday life activities, tasks and rituals in an easy and natural way.

AmI is characterized by systems and technologies that are:
  • embedded: many networked devices are integrated into the environment
  • context aware: these devices can recognize you and your situational context
  • personalized: they can be tailored to your needs
  • adaptive: they can change in response to you
  • anticipatory: they can anticipate your desires without conscious mediation.

How does eMarketing fit with AmI? To drive home the point, consider a hypothetical example:
(Assumption: You are subscribed to an AmI-enabled service)
Who: You
When: 2020, Sunday 12noon
Where: AmI-enabled Tokyo
What happens :  Based on your profile, time of day and present location, Siri
v20.0 notifies you through your iPhone20S and says "Siri here. You must be tired and hungry, there's a McDonalds (your favorite place to eat) about 20 meters away. I’m opening Google map 3d for you so you can get there fastest. But if you are not in the mood for McDonalds, here are some other choices that serve your favorite dishes (tap here to see the list and reviews).  If you are thirsty, there is a 711 some 5 meters away, you can go grab a cold drink and earn points as well. After lunch, I know you have some time to kill and like bargain shopping, why not visit Uniqlo located 2 blocks away from McDonalds. They're having 70% off on all items. Not yet in the mood to shop? There's a Tsutaya bookstore just beside Uniqlo and they already have copies of your most anticipated book, "The Six Immutable Laws of Mobile Business 2020". Your friends in Facebook liked it and left comments. Let me know if you want to look at them.”

Sci-fi stuff i know but not really far fetched. Let's say its the dawn of "Minority Report".
