Customization and personalization
In previous class, we have learned the theory of customization and personalization.
As mentioned in class, there are many risks for such kinds of services like security problem. However, considering the penetration ratio of the services like Facebook, we can say that these services have brought strong advantages to customers.
In my business filed, I think personalization is kind of sophisticated support services, price
decrease, prior allocation of products for 1
st
tier customers. However, as some documents say,
I think that we have to pay attention to customization business. For instance, in my business field, too much customization lead to much cost to product suppliers. A famous Japanese semiconductor maker Renesas, whose market share was quite high in the past, focused on ASIC which stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit.
As a result, high investment for various customer needs made them invest in various products and led to the inefficient profitability. In e-world, customization and personalization might be done more smoothly. However, I have felt that we have to think of principles of business and explore new method to break through our declining company situation.
