Imaginary area, “Kawaii ward” was set up in Fukuoka city in
Japan.
Mariko Shinoda, who is originally from Fukuoka city and a
member of AKB48 (the popular idol group), was placed the ward mayor in August
2012.
Anybody can register the ward resident on the Internet and receive
information about food, fashion, and history in Fukuoka city.

Fukuoka city hall has targeted young people in 20’s and 30’s
who live in areas around Tokyo in order to get them interested in Fukuoka city.
Now the number of the Kawaii ward residents is 40,002! (1st.Nov
2012)
We can buy a special resident card for 300 yen and this
service must only be possible that Fukuoka city is a public administration.
