A billion PC users on the way
By Michael Kanellos
Today, I finally started blogging about an e-marketing related topic. For some reason the concept of many technology companies penetrating emerging markets may be of interest to some of you. Developing nations such as Brazil, China, India and Russia are important markets to Microsoft and Intel because they represent an untapped resource for revenue. As a result, selling computers to a billion+ PC users by 2010 will remain a challenge. A lot of companies who want to get into the export business will have to rethink various approaches based on pricing. The problem is that PC and software makers can’t just design products that are cheaper. They have to start by removing potential obstacles so that you can work with local governments in developing countries and find new ways to better ways to equip its PC users and adapt technology quickly. Any thoughts regarding recycling of mobile phones and hand held devices?
